The Roomba J7+, iRobot's smartest robot to date, is the Roomba j7+. Its most notable advancement, however, is its camera-based obstacle-detection system. It makes use of AI to identify objects like charging cords and shoes. It's the first robot to send you pictures of the objects that it encounters, so that you can instruct the robot to stay clear of it.
The Combo J7+ is the most effective mop-bot we've ever tested, picking up spills and dirt effortlessly without leaving any trace that was there. It's easy to control using the iRobot Home app, which allows you to schedule cleaning and set up Keep Out Zones so that it doesn't vacuum areas you do not want it to. And it's compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can start and stop it by speaking to it.
The design is also superior to the other models. It features a sleek, top piece that appears like toys rather than the loud and annoying robot. And the Clean Base Automated Dirt Disposal System automatically empty which is great for reducing your cleanup time.
In our tests, the j7+ was quick to clean up dust, dirt and pet hair. The counter-rotating rubber brushes kept the debris in one location rather than sending it scattering around the floor. It was able to collect small gravel, sand and even a little grit. Most robots could not do this. And it did all of this without getting caught in our pet's hair shedding.
Although it's not as smart as the $1,217 Roomba s9+ Self-Emptying Vacuum, which isn't able to clean stairs, the j7+ is still an excellent option for those who need mopping and a vac in their home. It's not expensive and the iRobot App makes it simple to use.
The iRobot Home App is easy to use, however we found it less reliable than other robotic cleaner apps. It can take a while to download updates, and it's sometimes difficult to tell whether they're functioning until you actually witness them in action.

The Q5+ is exceptionally soft when it comes to obstacles like tables and walls. This makes it an ideal option for homes with many furniture pieces. It is also very thorough in removing dust bunnies. This is a place where most robot vacuums of lower quality aren't able to meet. The Q5+'s navigation system is also top-quality, with a few misses on walls and corners.
Like other Roborock devices like the Q5+, the Q5+ can be controlled by a few buttons on the device itself or via the Roborock app. The app lets you start and stop cleanings. You can also set schedules, design virtual barriers and no-go areas, alter your home map, or re-label the rooms.
If you opt for the Q5+ model, it comes with a new auto emptying dock that is designed to make this robot easier to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver but once in place, emptying the bin is done without difficulty. It comes with a huge LCD screen that is very useful for setting up schedules or changing settings. This feature isn't essential for most people however it can help you to keep the robot's maintenance schedules.
3. Narwal Freo X Ultra
The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a sophisticated, well-rounded vacuum and mop. It's capable of mopping and vacuuming. Its design is among the best in the industry however it's quite expensive.
It is a relatively small base station that looks beautiful and is easily hidden when not in use. But the station's main selling feature is the way it automatizes many tasks and functions that other robots leave up to you. It can store clean and dirty water, electrolyzes and heats the water (which many other robots require you to do) also emptying the dustbin after vacuuming, and ensures that your robot charged and clean.
Its vacuuming capabilities are also impressive. It's one of the few robovacs I've tried that does very well at picking up debris on plain floors, and is not nearly as loud as the more expensive Roomba 980 or iRobot 900 series.
But the Freo X Ultra has its faults, especially in terms of navigation. Its laser and LiDAR sensors aren't as reliable as other robovacs. This means it can get stuck or confused in certain areas of your home. It can't climb stairs as well as some competitors,, and it doesn't have an dock that allows you to create an area for cleaning that is specifically designed for carpets with plush padding.
While it doesn't offer the same amount of cleaning options available in its app or as many shortcuts in the app as some other robovacs, the Freo X Ultra is still an excellent choice for anyone looking for a comprehensive mop and robot vacuum that's worth the price price.
If you're looking to save money or don't mind the limitations of the robot, there are plenty of alternatives available. Many eufy models cost considerably less. The eufy Qrevo Curv, for instance is less expensive and offers a similar in-app experience with additional features such as stairs, a fully-function dock, and a better overall performance when vacuuming floors as well as high- and low-pile carpets.
